What is egcg powder?
EGCG(Epigallocatechin Gallate) is a natural compound extracted from green tea. Common preparation methods include extraction, chromatography, supercritical extraction, etc.It is an ester organic compound formed by flavane-3-alcohol and gallic acid at the 3rd position.EGCG is a white solid, odorless and irritating. It is insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, methanol and ethanol. It is relatively stable under neutral and weakly acidic conditions. It is unstable under alkaline conditions and prone to hydrolysis reactions, with free gallic acid.EGCG is a highly efficient and non-toxic antioxidant. In 2018, the European Food Safety Authority stated that a daily intake of 800mg might increase the risk of liver damage, while taking 338mg daily in the form of capsules or tablets was considered safe.

What does EGCG do to the body?
1. Antioxidant effect: EGCG powder is an antioxidant that can combat free radical damage. EGCG is at least 100 times more effective than vitamin C and 25 times more effective than vitamin E at protecting cells from damage associated with oxidative stress, which is linked to a wide range of diseases including heart disease and cancer.
2. Reduce the risk of heart disease: Studies have shown that EGCG may help lower bad cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as prevent atherosclerosis, all of which are risk factors for heart disease.
3. Regulating weight: EGCG can promote fat oxidation and energy expenditure, regulate metabolism, and help combat obesity and metabolic syndrome.
4. Antibacterial and antiviral effects: EGCG also possesses antibacterial and antiviral properties, effectively interfering with the growth and reproduction of microorganisms and viruses.
5.EGCG powder can be used as an antioxidant, preservative and deodorant in the food industry, extending the shelf life of food and improving its taste. In the pharmaceutical industry, EGCG has broad application prospects due to its multiple pharmacological effects such as antibacterial, anti-cancer and anti-aging.

Is it safe to take EGCG daily?
Daily and excessive intake on EGCG could increase the risk of liver damage. A daily intake of more than 800mg may increase the burden on the liver, and the risk is even higher for those with underlying liver diseases.
When daily use is required, it is recommended to start with a low dose, gradually adjust and monitor the body's response.
People with gastric ulcers, gastritis, impaired liver or kidney function, as well as pregnant and lactating women should avoid long-term use.
