what is Grifola Frondosa Extract Glucan?
Grifola Frondosa Extract Glucan is a precious medicinal and edible fungus. Its fruiting body can be extracted with hot water to obtain the extract of Grifola frondosa. The most important active ingredient is polysaccharide, and polysaccharide is mainly glucan of different configurations. Grifola frondosa glucan is usually divided into two categories: glucan with a main chain of β-(1→3) and a side chain of β-(1→6), and glucan with a main chain of β-(1→6) and a side chain of β-(1→3); in addition, it also contains a small amount of α-configuration alpha glucan of Lentinus edodes. These polysaccharides are combined with a small amount of protein to form a high molecular weight proteoglycan called "Maitake D-fraction", with an average molecular weight of about 1 million. It is currently the most deeply studied immunomodulatory and anti-tumor ingredient that can be effectively taken orally. Compared with other fungal polysaccharides such as alpha glucan from Lentinus edodes, the D-fraction of Grifola frondosa has significant differences in molecular weight and branched chain configuration, and therefore exhibits higher biological activity.
